Chief's Note Briefly summarizing some basics of what the Porter Volunteer Fire Department does, Porter Volunteer Fire Fighters and Divers attend many educational and hands on training programs designed to complement existing skills to better serve our community in the event EMS, Fire and/or Dive Rescue Services are needed. Volunteers not only fight fires and respond to EMS and/or Dive Rescue calls; they repair and maintain equipment, care for our buildings and fire department grounds, and present fire safety programs to local school children and other persons within our community. There are numerous life-changing stories and the impact on individual Fire Fighter quality is amazing. Examples include lifelong friendships, careers and even a department family! It is these results that make me proud of our volunteers and keep me motivated to continue my active support as Fire Chief of The Porter Volunteer Fire and Dive Rescue Department.
Being a volunteer department, we rely on financial assistance of corporate and associate partners, along with persons living within our community, to be able to provide a voice for our volunteer fire, emergency and/or dive services. These contributions are one of the key reasons our Volunteer Fire Department has such excellent results. Donations go directly to helping individuals within our community, along with other agencies within our county and other local counties.
